The Uncomfortable Middle

Awakening isn’t all bliss and light. There’s an uncomfortable, confusing, and often scary middle phase.

It’s the spiritual equivalent of being in the middle of the ocean. You’ve left the old shore of certainty, but you can’t yet see the new one. This is the territory that mystics have called the “dark night of the soul.”

Here’s what it feels like:

  • Before Awakening: Life was simple. You knew what was real. You might have been asleep, but you were comfortable in the dream.

  • During Awakening (The Middle): This is the hard part. Nothing feels solid. You question everything, even reality itself. You feel trapped in a loop of doubt. You can’t go back to the old dream, but the new reality hasn’t fully loaded yet. You feel lost.

  • After Awakening: This is where you find a new kind of certainty. You become comfortable with mystery. The new understanding is integrated, and the discomfort fades into a new, more profound sense of peace.

This middle phase is not a sign that you’re doing something wrong or going crazy. It’s a sign that the process is working.
