Did I Switch Timelines?

One of the strangest and most disorienting parts of the awakening process is a persistent, nagging feeling that you have shifted realities.

It doesn’t feel like a metaphor. It feels like you literally went to sleep in one universe and woke up in a slightly different parallel one. Everything looks the same, but it feels completely different. The rules seem to have changed. The air itself feels strange.

This can be deeply unsettling. So what is it?

  • Did you actually jump timelines? In a reality where consciousness collapses possibilities, did you make a choice so fundamental that you literally shifted to a new branch of reality?

  • Has your perception just changed? Is the world the same, but your brain has been so rewired that you are perceiving it through a completely new filter, making the familiar seem alien?

  • Is it a psychological effect? Psychologists have a name for this feeling: “derealization.” They describe it as a defense mechanism when the brain is overwhelmed by stress or a flood of new information. It’s a known side effect of trauma, but also of intense spiritual experiences.

The truth is, the answer might be a mix of all three. But the feeling itself is a real and common part of the journey.

It’s a sign that your old, narrow reality-tunnel has been shattered. The new, wider one is still being built. You are in the middle of the renovation, and everything is covered in dust.
